![]() In the summer time that's approx 16-24 miles per hour of charging or 192 to >250 miles in a 12 hour overnight charge session. Given that I don't know how far you drive every day you might be quite pleased with 16 or 24amps. This means for example, if you want to run 10AWG you can set the EVSE to 24amps. Also keep in mind that if you select a smaller wire you can dial down the max current that the EVSE advertises. I think what you are looking for is 8/3 w/ ground (future proof), or 8/2 w/ground (minimum for 220v service). 40amps isn't bad to shoot for, it is what my Model S charges at. All the EVSE does is make sure that 220v gets to the plug when the car is plugged in. Keep in mind the EVSE is just a fancy extension cord that (among other things) advises the car's on board charger how much juice it can draw. ![]() Also seems like a no-brainer for people who aren't able to pull a full 50A circuit to their EVSE.Īlso worth noting that with the sale the 40 is the same price as is available on Costco, the cheapest price I've seen.Īmazon is selling both units for the same price as the eMotorWerks store: Ĭlick to expand. The Bolt's on board charger is limited to 32amps. For those not familiar the JuiceBox Lite 40 was identical to the JuiceBox Pro 40 but had a more limited feature set, but could be upgraded to a Pro model for an additional charge.Īnyways, the price list price in the eMotorWerks store is $549 for the 32 and $619 for the 40 but they are having a sale so it's currently $449 for the 32 and $549 for the 40, so $100 cheaper, a good price for a Bolt owner since the Bolt is limited to 32A anyways, though obviously the 40A version is more future proof as it will be able to provide 25% faster charging to EVs that can handle higher current. Maybe this is old news but I just noticed that there is a new product in the eMotorWerks store, the JuiceBox Pro 32 which seems to have identical features to the JuiceBox Pro 40 but as you would probably guess is limited to 32A/7.7kW instead of 40A/10kW like it's big brother, the JuiceBox Pro 40.Īlso the new unit seems to have replaced the old JuiceBox Lite 40 EVSE as the least expensive JuiceBox in the lineup.
